cowboy sketch

Worked on the sketch as part of Bobby Chiu's "chiustream." Stephen Silver was the guest speaker today and picked the timed-sketch topic of cowboy. My cowboy prefers riding pigs and enjoys wearing trendy scarves.

Hierarchy

Guess who! Here is a sketch for this week's Illustration Friday topic "Hierarchy." This character is constantly striving to enforce and follow the hierarchical structure of his workplace. In addition to that, I just finished reading this really cool article that further illustrates this point:) I'm finding I should probably do some studies of male hands, because my short little toddler fingers are not useful as reference. That's all for now, thanks for looking!

Bloody Mary

First sketch- of-the-day in a while, lately they have been turning into multiple day adventures. I was really excited to see that it was "editors choice" this week on one of my favorite illustration sites... check it out here!

Additionally, I wanted to submit this image for this week's Illustration Friday topic "Poise" because I think the mosquito maintains his composure, even caught mid-sip. He is quite sophisticated no? I say argyle socks are the epitome of class :)

Illustration Friday - "Time"

This is my first time participating on the Illustration Friday site. Each week they generate a new topic for artists to explore. This week's topic was "time" and because I spent the previous week working on a freelance project involving wormholes, I decided to go with time travel.

Also it seems I've recently developed a fascination with featuring bald old men in my art. . .

Couch-Bot

Ive been in the mood to make a robot lately. I made this sketch last night around 1am. If it seems a little crazy, that is probably the reason why.

Toilet Monster.

This sketch was a first for me because I drew it entirely in Photoshop using one layer (usually I scan a pencil sketch to work from). It's a little less than an hour of work, and although tempted to continue rendering, I decided to let it be for now and move onward.

Future goals of mine are learning to be more comfortable drawing from scratch on the computer, and to work faster overall.
