Jason Seiler and sketches

This is a digital painting of artist Jason Seiler. I spent some time experimenting with skin tones and texture and included a detail of some of that work. There are also sketches of random people below. I am pretty happy with the thumbnails at the bottom because I used a larger brush and it definitely helped me stay loose.

One thing I continue to struggle with is how comfortable I am making marks with my tablet. I am not sure if it is my settings or how I am seated, but it is frustrating to keep making the same mark over and over again. I feel like it is taking me way more time than it needs to:( Does anyone own a cintiq and find that the difference is worth the price jump?

you're just dynamite with the caricaturing. it's really amazing. btw, my intuos has some settings that you can access through the start menu. if you can, maybe adjusting pressure sensitivity might help you?

Thanks Taylor... I have messed around with those before and they definitely help, I think for me it is more the wonky coordination, like getting the curves right or placing the lines in the right spot...

Hi Kacey,

Your work is terrific. I love looking at it. I have the same challenges when working with the wacom and was wondering if an upgrade would help. Sometimes I can't get strokes close to each other. The old one is replaced by the new one.

You're very talented with faces... realistic, caricature and sketches. I enjoy browsing your blog! Nice find for sure.

Kasey, re: Cintiq. I tried one out and it was great. I hope to get one later on next year. Much better than drawing on a tablet.
